Overnight Oats

Overnight oats is one of my favourite breakfasts to make ahead of time. Once you've made the base, you can pretty much add whatever you want to it.

You start off with a simple base and then add in your fixings. I like to do the usual basic ingredients; strawberries, bananas and blueberries.

I make my oats in these overnight oat jars that I got from Quaker Oats. You can see the post I did on them here. They're still going strong 5 years later.

Ingredients:

Base:

Rolled Oats

Greek Yogurt

Milk (dairy or a dairy free alternative)*

Honey

Additions:

Fruit, fresh or dried

Milled Seed Mix (flax, pumpkin, chia and sunflower)

You can also add in spices, jams, nut butters, chocolate/chocolate spread, the options are endless.

Method:

Add the oats, milk, yogurt and honey (and seeds) in the jar. Make sure to leave enough room in the jar for the fruit.

Shake up the jar so it mixes well.

Cut up your fruit and add it into the jar. Stir it with a spoon or shake the jar.

Refrigerate overnight and enjoy.

You can always make the base in a big batch and divvy up as and when you need it, or make the base in the jars and add the fruit in when you're ready to have it. Just be mindful to check the expiry dates of the dairy products you're using.

*Depending on what I have in the house, I will use oat milk or lactose free semi-skimmed milk.
