Snickerdoodles

I watch a lot of US television and a lot of the time they'd mention or eat Snickerdoodle cookies. So after many years I finally decided to look up a recipe and try to make them myself.

Ingredients:
1 1/3 Cup All Purpose Flour
½ tsp Baking Soda
¼ tsp Salt
1 tsp Cream Of Tartar
½ Cup Unsalted Butter,room temperature
¾ Cup Granulated Sugar
1 Egg
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
For the Cinnamon Sugar
¼ Cup Granulated Sugar
1 Tbsp Ground Cinnamon

Method:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

In a small bowl, combine the first 4 ingredients and set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar, add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until creamy and combined.

Add your dry ingredients and mix just enough to incorporate all of the ingredients but don’t over mix!

In a small bowl, mix together the remaining ¼ cup of granulated sugar and the ground cinnamon. Set side.

Ready your baking sheets with greaseproof paper or silicone mat.

With a tablespoon or small ice cream scooper, take some of the dough and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Coat and place them on your prepared baking sheets. Bake for about 15 to 18 minutes rotating half way through for even baking.

Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring onto a wire rack to cool completely.

I was not a fan of these cookies. I found the texture way to light and cake like. If I ever made them again I would adapt the recipe. For example, I would use a mix of brown and white sugar. And I would also add cinnamon to the actual cookie dough.

  1. Have to agree. I like a bit of bite to my cookies and these were a bit too cakey for me. But still a good bake!
