Air Fryer Babybel Bites

What's better than deep-fried cheese? Nothing. But these air fryer babybel come close. Babybel is Edam cheese and tastes nearly as good as mozzarella. Unlike the US, we don't have multiple flavours of Babybel. These make a perfect snack or appetizer. Crunchy melty cheesy goodness.

As much as I love mozzarella sticks, I like that this air fryer version isn't as oily, so I feel better about eating so many. That and I used light babybel, so it's pretty much the healthiest thing going, right?

Ingredients:

Flour

Egg

Breadcrumbs

Babybel cheese

Salt

Black pepper

Italian seasoning

Look at that cheese pull.

Method:

Preheat your air fryer to 200C.

In 3 shallow bowls add your flour, eggs and breadcrumbs,

Season the flour and breadcrumbs.

Unwrap your babybel cheese.

Dredge the cheese in four and dust off the excess.

Dip the cheese in the egg and then the breadcrumbs, and repeat once more. Make sure you coat each side well.

Place your cheese in the air fryer basket and spray the cheese bites with a little spray oil, to help them not stick.

Cook for 5-10 mins until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted. A good sign is when some of the bites start to ooze melted cheese. If they're browning too quick and the cheese is still firm, reduce the heat to 180C.

I made a quick marinara sauce to dip them in, which really upped the yumminess. I don't have a recipe for that, I just chucked a bunch of ingredients in a pan and hoped for the best.
